Struggling Laois have been handed a much-needed boost ahead of the Tailteann Cup with the return of Donie Kingston to action.
The long-time O’Moore County talisman made his first appearance of the year as a half-time substitute in Arles-Killeen’s 2-9 to 0-11 ACFL Division 1B victory over neighbours Arles-Kilcruise on Saturday. He marked his return to action with a point, while young brother Paul chipped in with 1-3. The evergreen Ross Munnelly accounted for 0-5 of Arles-Kilcruise’s tally.
After suffering back-to-back relegations in the Allianz League in March, the O'Moore County conceded a massive 5-15 when they lost to Wicklow in the Leinster SFC for the first time since the infamous 'Battle of Aughrim' in 1986 last Sunday week. That defeat consigns them to the new second-tier championship, which begins later this month.
