Lee Chin sailed over a late free from centre-field as Wexford denied Galway victory in the opening round of the Leinster senior hurling championship this evening.

It finished 1-19 to 1-19 at Chadwicks Wexford Park, where the visitors saw a six-point half-time lead eventually reduced to two before Chin nailed the last four points of the game to earn a share of the spoils for the Slaneysiders.

Galway had the sliotar in the Model men’s net after just four minutes thanks to Brian Concannon’s neat finish and they’d kick on to lead comfortably at the break by 1-11 to 0-8.

Henry Shefflin’s men saw their lead reduced to two prior to getting it back up to six with 10 minutes to go only for Conor McDonald’s close range goal to give Wexford a lifeline.

Galway still led by three in injury-time but, somehow let it slip, as Chin held his nerve to point this free (see below) won by Damien Reck out of defence with effectively the last puck in the seventh minute of injury-time.
