Cork and Tipperary booked themselves semi-finals spots in the Munster U20 hurling championship after earning respective wins last night.

Reigning champions Cork scored a 1-19 to 1-17 win over Clare in Sixmilebridge, where Diarmuid Healy's 44th minute goal put the Rebels ahead for the first time in the contest.

Clare, who had led by 0-9 to 0-5 at the interval, got their lead back thanks to a superb individual goal from Shane Meehan but the visitors made the better finish as points from Brian O'Sullivan, Ethan Twomey, Colin Walsh and Eoin O'Leary saw them through along with Limerick from Group A.

In Thurles, Tipperary scored a 2-21 to 1-20 win over Waterford to advance to the last four of the province.

Kyle Shelly’s goal early in the second-half created some daylight between the sides after an airtight opening half in Semple Stadium.

Shelly’s points kept the scoreboard ticking over for Tipp and, despite Peter Fitzgerald levelling the game for the visitors, Peter McGarry's goal with five minutes to go sealed the victory for Brendan Cummins’ lads.

Waterford can still earn a place in the semi-finals next Wednesday when they take on Kerry in a winner takes all showdown at Walsh Park.
