London's Fergal Collins gathers possession

London came from nine points down to defeat Sligo by 0-26 to 0-21 in this afternoon’s Christy Ring Cup opener in Ruislip.

The Exiles trailed by 0-13 to 0-4 after half-hour of this contest and even missed a penalty in the run to half-time.

Ronan Crowley inspired a late London burst that saw then go in at the break only trailing by five (0-15 to 0-10) and they dominated large portions of the second-half to pick up the round 1 victory.

With the win at their backs, the hosts hit the front on 47 minutes thanks to a pair of Crowley frees and they’d soon move two in front ahead of points from Andy Foley and Patrick Foley squaring the contest for Sligo.

The Yeats men would only register three more points after that as Jack Goulding, Crowley (2) and Richie Lombard sailed over scores at the other end that kept the momentum flowing for London.

The visitors responded with a Gerard O’Kelly-Lynch ‘65’ ahead of London's captain Benny McCarry and Donal Hannon ensuring the comeback win on home soil.

Next up for the Exiles is a date with Kildare next Saturday in the second of their five Christy Ring Cup group games.
