Offaly will be playing their league hurling in Division 2A next year after losing out to Antrim in this evening’s Division 1 relegation playoff in Navan.
The Saffrons were full value for their 3-24 to 2-17 victory, earning it without the services of injured talisman Neil McManus.
James McNaughton and Keelan Molloy netted goals for the Ulster side that put them on the path towards a 2-11 to 0-12 half-time lead.
Offaly boss Michael Fennelly made two switches in personnel for the second-half and his side would be level by the 40th minute thanks to Eoghan Cahill’s converted penalty.
The Glensmen came again though and the points of Conal Cunning, Joe Maskey and Molloy saw them leading by five in the final quarter.
The Faithful men went down to 14 players when Joey Keenaghan picked up a second yellow card and Antrim moved 10 in front before Cahill got his second goal from a 21-metre free.
Darren Gleeson’s charges made sure they’d win out by double digits as Ciaran Clarke smashed a penalty to the Offaly net late on.
