Bishopstown GAA holding major fundraiser for Mick Cronin

March 16, 2022

Two days of matches involving our underage & senior players across all codes.

Bishopstown GAA club will host 14 neighbouring clubs on Thursday, March 17 and Friday, March 18 to play matches for club stalwart Mick Cronin, who suffered life-changing injuries in a work accident last year.

An outstanding GAA volunteer, Mick is a cornerstone of the famous Cork club who are now asking for your support. From U6 up to senior, boys and girls and men and women will play in the two-day marathon of hurling, football, and camogie matches from 9am to 8:30pm. The clubs taking part in #matchesformick are Ballincollig, Ballinhassig, Ballinora, Ballygarvan, Blackrock, Carrigaline, Douglas, Glen Rovers, Keelnameela, Kiskeam, Nemo Rangers, St Catherine's, St Finbarr's and Valley Rovers.

Bishopstown GAA said: "Mick Cronin is a much valued member of our club. Originally from Kiskeam, Mick has worked with a number of teams as a mentor and coach over the last 13 years in our Underage Section. Mick is always the first to volunteer when work is to be done. He is an outstanding clubperson and is very much admired by young and old alike.

"Unfortunately, Mick suffered catastrophic, life changing injuries in an accident last November. As a means of supporting Mick and his family, our club is holding a marathon of matches on March 17th and 18th from 10am to 10pm at our grounds. We will be inviting visiting teams in to play against our teams. All proceeds from the matchesformick fund go towards his immediate and long-term care needs.

"Our ask is that you simply purchase a match ticket to support this worthy cause."
