Mayo made their first-half goals count as they condemned Dublin to a third consecutive defeat in Division 1 of Allianz Football League tonight.
It finished 2-11 to 0-12 at a rain-soaked Croke Park, where Jack Carney and Aiden Orme netted 21st and 31st minute goals for the Connacht champions which paved the way to a second victory of the campaign.
Carney’s strike involved a slice of fortune, as it saw the corner forward’s low shot coming back off the post a deflecting on off goalkeeper Evan Comeford for the umpire’s green flag.
Orme made it 1-5 to 0-5 a minute later and while scores at the other end from Ross McGarry (2) and Dean Rock free brought Dessie Farrell’s men level, they ship another goal in the run up to half-time.

Ryan O’Donoghue cut in from his corner-forward post and crossed into the path of Orme who palmed home and sent Mayo towards a 2-6 to 0-9 half-time lead.
Mayo ‘keeper Rob Hennelly sailed over 45s either side of the break before being called up to tip over Lorcan O’Donnell’s shot rasping shot on goal in the 44th minute.
The Dubs never looked like hitting their opponents net again after that and would only post two more points via Rock (free) and John Small.
At the other end, Michael Plunkett would come up from corner-back to post a brace of points – the second off an assist from substitute Aidan O’Shea – before Diarmuid O'Connor rounded off what be a comfortable five-point win for James Horan’s side.
