Armagh came from five points down to secure a 1-7 to 0-10 draw against Monaghan this evening and preserve their unbeaten record in Division 1 of the Allianz Football League three rounds in.

The visitors had led 0-9 to 0-4 at the start of the second-half when ace attacker Conor McManus was issued a straight red card following a goalmouth incident.

Dessie Ward’s black card meant Monaghan were playing with 13 men from the 52nd minute and it was evident as a minute later the ball was in their net via Conor Turbitt.

Points from Stefan Campbell and Oisin O’Neill followed to bring Kieran McGeeney’s side level and they’d hit the front in the 61st minute when Tiernan Kelly sailed over.

Monaghan landed their first score in half-an-hour through a Jack McCarron free a minute from regulation and, in the end it, it proved enough to snatch a share of the spoils.

Not expected to start in this derby, McManus kicked two late points in the first-half that sent Seamus McEnaney’s charges in at the break leading 0-8 to 0-3.

However, after his dismissal five minutes into the restart, Armagh hit the crossbar and also missed a penalty from Rian O'Neill before Turbitt hit the Farney net and Kelly gave them the lead only to be denied both points by McCarron’s late free.
