James O'Connor has stepped down as Ballyhale Shamrocks following last Saturday's heart-breaking All-Ireland club SHC final loss to Ballygunner.
Under the Lismore man, who succeeded Henry Shefflin as manager in 2020, Ballyhale won back-to-back Kilkenny SHC titles and also retained their Leinster club crown before Christmas. But their hopes of winning an unpredented three-in-a-row of Tommy Moore Cups were dashed by Harry Ruddle's late, late goal at Croke Park.
O'Connor also lost an All-Ireland club IHC final in similar circumstances when in charge of Cork's Fr O'Neill's two years ago.
TweetWe have to say well done to @ballygunnerHc - you played to the last second and got your victory.
