Mayo forward Tommy Conroy suffered a knee injury while in action for NUI Galway in their Sigerson Cup quarter-final victory over Letterkenny IT last night.

The 2021 Young Player of the Year nominee went down injured just before the break as Maurice Sheridan's side overcame the second-half sending off of Gavin Durcan to record a 2-8 to 1-8 win in Dangan. Tomo Culhane's goal had the Galway students 1-5 to 0-4 up at half-time.

Mayo manager James Horan looks certain to be without the key The Neale player for Sunday's Allianz league Division 1 second round clash away to Monaghan, and depending on the seriousness of the injury, Conroy could be set for a long spell on the sidelines.

With the Sigerson Cup semi-finals pencilled in for next week, it represents another massive blow for NUI Galway, who have already lost full-back Sean Mulkerrin to a season-ending knee injury.
