Michael Ryan's record in management just gets better and better.

Two weeks after managing the Ballymacarbry ladies to an astonishing 40th successive county title, Ryan guided their male counterparts The Nire to a 10th Waterford senior football championship success at the expense of Rathgormack in Dungarvan yesterday.

Whereas the former Waterford and Westmeath hurling surpemo has been involved with a remarkable 32 All-Ireland winning ladies football teams, it was his first time to win a senior championship with The Nire. Indeed, he lost two finals as a player in 1987 and '89, but those defeats are now well and truly forgotten thanks to yesterday's 1-7 to 0-9 victory.
