Éire Óg ended their 15-year wait for the Clare senior football championship crown today after seeing off defending champions Kilmurry-Ibrickane by 1-11 to 0-9 at Cusack Park.

Mark McInerney’s 18th minute goal saw the Ennis club go on to take a deserved 1-6 to 0-4 lead at the break and their lead would be at six come the second water break.

Clare ace Keelan Sexton brought Kilmurry-Ibrickane right back into contention in the closing quarter, sailing over four frees in-a-row that had the scoreboard reading 1-8 to 0-9 with 10 minutes to go.

Crucially, Clare hurling star David Reidy notched the next two score to steady Éire Óg’s ship prior to Eimhin Courtney coming off the bench and landing the insurance point which sees the Jack Daly Cup resting in Ennis for this winter.
