Tyrone GAA is in mourning following the death of legendary figure John Joe O’Hagan.
The Coalisland native was a member of the Tyrone minor side which captured the county’s first ever All-Ireland title in 1947 and helped his county to another minor success the following year.
He went on to represent the Red Hands at senior level as they secured breakthrough Ulster SFC triumphs in 1956 and 1957.
At club level, he won five Tyrone SFC titles with Clonoe O’Rahilly’s side and, after retiring from the game, he would coach Eglish to a senior championship in the O’Neill County in 1970.
His son Damien also played with Tyrone at minor, U21 and senior and won three Ulster senior medals as well an All-Star award in 1986.
Tributes have since poured in since John Joe’s passing yesterday.
We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the O'Hagan family on the passing of John Joe. John Joe was manager of the 1970 Eglish team which won the Senior Championship.
