Horan backs Proposal B two-year trial

GAA president John Horan at 2020 Congress

Former GAA president John Horan has called for a two-year trial of Proposal B ahead of Saturday's vote at Special Congress.

According to a report in the Irish Independent, Horan made his position clear on the matter during an online meeting with county chairmen last evening. The Dublin man, who directed the Fixtures Calendar Review Task Force to come up with proposals during his time as president, has given his backing to the league-based championship option for a two-year trial in 2023 and 2024.

This would allow for any tweaks to be made to the template between now and next February’s annual Congress.

It's expected that Proposal B will receive the 60% support it requires to get through Special Congress, with speculation mounting that Proposal A might not even appear on the Clár due to a lack of support.
