Former star forwards Chris Conway and Brian 'Beano' McDonald will be part of incoming Laois senior football manager Billy Sheehan's backroom team.

Both were key figures when the O'Moore County won their first Leinster SFC title after a 57-year wait in 2003, having tasted All-Ireland minor success before that. Completing the new management team is Gerry McGill, who served as a selector under Tomás Ó Flatharta in 2014 and '15.

Laois GAA Management Committee will be putting their names forwards for ratification at next Monday's county board meeting along with that of Seamus 'Cheddar' Plunkett as senior hurling manager.

The Management Committee is also proposing that Ollie Hally, Eddie Kinsella and Declan Qualter continue in their respective roles as U20 hurling, U20 football and minor hurling managers, with former Waterford senior boss Derek McGrath once again involved with the minor hurlers as selector / coach.
