The future of Meath senior football manager Andy McEntee is in doubt after the county's GAA Executive didn’t vote in favour of the third year of his current term.

McEntee has served five years in the role having succeeded Mick O’Dowd at the end of 2016.

After his original three year term expired, he was ratified for further three years in Autumn 2019 with the final season of that up for review.

At last night's Management meeting of Meath GAA, the board voted against supporting the final year of McEntee’s term. It is believed that a number of the senior Executive members supported the current manager.

While coming as a surprise, word had filtered through the county on Tuesday evening that there could be a move against the current manager. Indeed at the Leinster club draws that same evening, there were rumours to that effect.

Club delegates could yet vote against the Meath Executive’s decision and ratify McEntee for 2022, should the manager wish to continue in the role.
