Kildare hurling continues to ride the crest of a wave

Kildare hurling on the rise.

Kildare hurling is on a high following yesterday's stunning Leinster U20 championship victory over Wexford, the seniors contest the Joe McDonagh Cup for the first time looking to take Westmeath's scalp on Saturday and the minors got on that crest of a wave this evening.

The Lilywhites marched to a 2-16 to 0-15 win over Laois at Newbridge to advance to a Leinster MHC quarter-final meeting with Wexford in seven days' time.

A strong first-half performance saw Kildare lead 2-8 to 0-6 at the break, with corner-forward James Nolan finding the net twice, while Fionn Maher hit nine points for the winners.

Meath will face Dublin in the other quarter-final next week after receving a walkover from Antrim as Kilkenny and Offaly await in the last four.
