The first round draws for the 2021 Cavan senior, intermediate and junior football championships were made last night at Kingspan Breffni.
Champions Crosserlough will open their campaign against 2016 winners Ramor United while Castlerahan face Lavey and Cavan Gaels take on intermediate title holders Ballinagh.
Last year’s beaten finalists (after a replay) Kingscourt stars are in a derby with Shercock while Gowna play Killygarry and Laragh United gear up for Lacken in the first weekend of September.
The intermediate championship draw sees 2020 finalists Butlersbridge preparing for a derby against Drumlane for the second year running, with the winners from last year’s outstanding junior championship final (Denn or Templeport), which is set to be played in August, opening against Cornafean.
In the junior championship draw, the losers between Denn and Templeport will meet Kill Shamrocks in their opener.
Round 1 of the Cavan senior hurling championship draw also took place last night and will see Mullahoran St Joseph’s up against East Cavan Gaels first while Pearse Ogs take on Cootehill Celtic.
