Wexford Chairman Michael Martin has confirmed that two members of the county’s senior hurling panel have tested positive for Covid-19 and that he expects this weekend’s game against Kilkenny to go ahead as planned.
The news was confirmed on South East Radio’s Morning Mix programme earlier today with Martin explaining: "We know at the moment that there are two players that have tested positive.
"At the moment I wouldn’t like to comment more for privacy of information but I don’t think we’re overly concerned beyond that at this present time."
Martin also explained that there may have been cases in other counties in recent weeks and games would go ahead: “This is probably something we are going to have to get used to throughout the summer. As society opens up there will be isolated cases and I am led to believe there were a number of counties last week leading up to matches who had isolated cases.”
It is not believed that the cases relate to GAA activity and that other panel members are not deemed close contacts of the two positive cases.
