Kevin O'Driscoll will partner captain Ian Maguire at midfield on the Cork team for Saturday's Allianz Football League opener with Kildare at Semple Stadium.
Tadhg McCarthaigh's clubman O'Driscoll fills the void left by the injured Killian O'Hanlon following last November's Munster final defeat to Tipperary. O'Hanlon and defender Aidan Browne are both ruled out for the season with cruciate knee ligament injuries.
2010 All-Ireland winner Ciaran Sheehan has returned to the squad and is listed amongst the Rebels' substitutes.
