Kerry All-Ireland winner Peter Crowley has taken the decision to retire from inter-county action.
The 30-year-old has been an outstanding servant for the Kingdom since making his debut in 2011 but injuries hampered his involvement over the last few years.
Crowley was centre back on the Kerry side that captured the county's last All-Ireland title in 2014 and went on to win an All-Star that year. He is also the holder of seven Munster SFC titles and two Allianz League medals.
Having helped divisional side Mid Kerry to the county SFC final, the Laune Rangers clubman made his inter-county return against Monaghan in the league last October following a 19-month absence from a cruciate ligament injury. He started the Munster semi-final defeat to Cork a month later.
Crowley becomes the fourth Kerry player to announce his retirement in recent months following in the footsteps of fellow defenders Shane Enright and Jonathan Lyne and goalkeeper Brian Kelly. Manager Peter Keane confirmed the news as the team returned to collective training this evening.
"Peter Crowley will be missed particularly for his energy, determination and experience on the training field and in the dressing room," Keane said.
"I’d like to wish Peter the best of luck and thank him for the commitment he has always shown to the green and gold."
