Marty Duffy is the new chairman of the National Referees' Appointments Committee.
The Sligo official's appointment comes following Larry McCarthy's take over as GAA President at Congress last month.
McCarthy has been finalising the various centrally appointed committees for the next three years, with female representation on each of them.
Duffy, who retired from the inter-county referees panel in 2018, oversaw the 2009 All-Ireland SFC final between Kerry and Cork.
The Enniscrone/Kilglass clubman also refereed the Munster football finals in 2007 and 2013 and Leinster football deciders in 2006 and 2012.
