Clare midfielder Gary Brennan has announced his retirement from intercounty football.
The Clondegad clubman made his debut in 2007 and developed into one of the outstanding midfielders of his generation. The news was first reported in the Clare Echo.
An All Star nominee in 2016, Brennan played for Ireland in the International Rules series against Australia.
He was due to miss the 2020 season to go travelling but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, featured for Clare in last year’s championship.
In a statement the Gaelic Players Association wished him well in his retirement.
He follows defender Gordon Kelly into intercounty retirement but better news for the Banner is that Colm Collins has decided to remain on as senior manager.
