Meath hurling manager Nick Weir has added to his backroom management team.

Weir has added to his coaching staff in the form of Tipperary men Johnny Enright and Timmy Hammerslewy along with former county player Steven Clynch. David Reilly will continue in his coaching role.

Johnny Enright is a former Thurles Sarsfields player, who has won four Tipperary Senior Hurling Championships and one Munster Club Championship with his club.  He has also represented Tipperary at all levels and has won 3 Fitzgibbon Cup titles in the ’90s with UCC.  

Now living in Kildare, Johnny played for Kildare in 2012. Since then he has played with and coached the Eire Óg Corra Choill senior hurling team. Johnny has also coached the UCD Fitzgibbon Cup team for three years and was part of the Thurles Sarsfields backroom team in 2017.

Timmy Hammersley is from Tipperary and works as an Athletic Performance Coach. He gained a Masters in Sport and Exercise Psychology from WIT and has worked with numerous intercounty and club GAA teams. His sporting highlights were winning an All-Ireland Senior Hurling medal with Tipperary in 2010, and a county senior hurling medal in 2018 with his club Clonoulty Rossmore. Timmy also pulled on the Meath Hurling Jersey in 2016 in the Allianz League against Wicklow scoring four points from play but his tenure in the Meath jersey was cut short due to a change in work commitments.

Steven Clynch retired in 2017 after a long and distinguished career in the Green & Gold Jersey.  His career with the Meath hurlers finished in a blaze of glory as he displayed nerves of steel to  hit the winning point with the last puck of the game in the now famous 2016 Christy Ring final replay against Antrim in Croke Park
