All-Ireland winning defender Karl Lacey has left Declan Bonner’s Donegal senior football management team.

Lacey had been part of the Tir Chonaill County’s set-up since 2017, when Bonner was first appointed, as the team went on to win back-to-back Ulster SFC titles in 2018 and 2019.

This past November saw Bonner’s charges stunned by Cavan at the provincial final stage at Armagh’s Athletic Grounds.

BBC Sport NI reports that Lacey, who is a lecturer at the Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT), has departed Bonner’s backroom team ahead of the 2021 season for family and work reasons.

Former Mayo manager Stephen Rochford and ex-Donegal midfielder Paul McGonigle remain part of the team management as Bonner heads into the fourth season of his reign.
