Kerry’s Jonathan Lyne has announced his retirement from inter-county football.
The Killarney Legion clubman confirmed his decision on Twitter yesterday evening and said that it was “a true honour to represent my family, friends, club and Kerry people”.
Having made his senior inter-county debut in 2011, Lyne won an All-Ireland SFC medal with the Kingdom in 2014 as a member of the squad which overcame Donegal in the final.
In that year’s semi-final, he notched two points off the bench as Kerry defeated Mayo 3-16 to 3-13 after extra time in Limerick.
His last game for the Kingdom came in October of last year in their National League victory against Monaghan.
"The right time has come for me to finish up my Kerry journey and retire," the 30-year-old wrote on Twitter.
"It has been a true honour to represent my family, friends, club and Kerry people.
"I'm looking forward to supporting the lads just like these 3 legends that I lost this year always supported me. #CiarraíAbú".
