Connacht MFC final brought forward to St Stephen's Day

Roscommon v Sligo brought due to incoming Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions

The Connacht minor football championship final between Roscommon and Sligo has been brought forward to this Saturday, December 26th.

The decider had originally been fixed for the weekend of January 10/11 and was brought forward to December 29th.

However, with Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions set to take effect after Christmas it has now been confirmed that the game will take place on St Stephen’s Day at the Connacht Centre of Excellence (throw-in 4.30pm).

As it stands, the incoming government restrictions leave next month’s All-Ireland MFC series in doubt along with other fixtures scheduled for the early part of the New Year.

Sligo are bidding for their first Connacht minor football title since 1968, after upsetting holders Mayo on Sunday, with the Rossies, who defeated Galway on Saturday, standing in their way.
