Armagh football manager Kieran McGeeney has brought four-time Kerry All-Ireland winner Kieran Donaghy into his backroom team.
37-year-old Donaghy, who retired from the inter-county game in 2018 and features as a pundit on Sky Sports now, was joint manager of the IT Tralee Sigerson Cup team last season and previously worked as a performance coach with the Galway senior hurlers.
He is set to come up against his native county in the Allianz League Division 1 next season after Armagh secured their place in the top flight for the first time since 2012.
Former Armagh All-Ireland winner and SDLP MLA Justin McNulty welcomed the news on Twitter this evening, saying the Austin Stacks clubman will be "a huge asset" to the county set-up.
A Kerryman in Armagh. An exciting new chapter for Armagh Football. Kieran Donaghy, ultimate competitor on the pitch & gentleman off it, brings immense respect before he walks through the door. His experience in #GAA & basketball will be huge asset to Geezer’s backroom team⭐️🟧⬜️ pic.twitter.com/sDuJsA61BW
