Portaferry 0-15
Ballycran 0-13
Held to a draw after extra-time at the same venue seven days ago, Portaferry made no mistake at the second attempt in edging holders Ballycran in today's Down SHC final replay at Ballygalget.
The victors never trailed and were ahead by 0-5 to 0-3 at the first water break after brothers Eoghan and Daithi Sands had registered their opening scores. They went on to lead by the double at half-time (0-10 to 0-5) with three Padraig Doran frees in the run up to the break stretching the gap.
With Colum McManus deadly accurate from placed balls, three-in-a-row hopefuls Ballycran came roaring back in the second-half and, extra-time looked on the cards again when the full-forward made it 0-12 to 0-11 on 26 minutes. But they couldn't find the leveller though as Daithi Sands picked off the last two points for Portaferry.
