A dramatic 2-8 to 0-11 defeat at home to Inniskeen this afternoon means reigning champions Clontibret miss out on a place in the Monaghan SFC quarter-finals.
It looked as if Clontibret had done enough to claim the victory when leading 0-11 to 1-5 with three minutes of normal time remaining. However, Grattans produced a late smash and grab raid to deny the hosts with Andrew Woods landing an equalising point before grabbing a match winning goal.
Clontibret were 0-8 to 0-3 in front at half-time in a clash that saw Crossmaglen boss John McEntee pit his wits against his former team-mate and good friend Oisin McConville.
McConville's Inniskeen will take on Truagh in the last eight after the latter received a walkover from Castleblayney while Carrickmacross and Magheracloone are also through to the knockout stages.
