St Martin's 1-11

Reigning champions St Martin's were shocked at Chadwicks Wexford Park by an impressive Glynn Barntown side in the quarter-finals of the Wexford SHC this evening.

John Meyler's men eased their way through the group stage scoring 5-42 in two games while Glynn Barntown suffered defeat in their opener to finish runners up.

John Lacey led the way, scoring 0-10 for Shane Carley's charges as they recovered from the concession of an early Luke Kavanagh goal to take a 0-12 to 1-7 half time lead with wind advantage to come.

Wexford goalkeeper Mark Fanning, who scored a crucial penalty in the qualifying win over Rathnure, pulled off a couple of superb saves to deny St Martin's after the break. Glynn Barntown kept their nerve and finished strong.
