Glen Rovers 3-20
St Finbarr’s 2-15
Patrick Horgan played a prominent role for 14-man Glen Rovers in their defeat of close rivals St Finbarr's in this evening's Cork SHC first round clash at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
Cork star Horgan helped himself to a personal tally of 1-9 and Simon Kennefick also impressed, netting two important goals.
Glen led at the end of the first half, 1-12 to 0-11, despite the sending off of Robert Downey on a straight red card for an off the ball incident.

Having trailed by six points at the time of Downey's dismissal, Barrs managed to cut the deficit to four with a flurry of scores but were unable to maintain the momentum after the break.
Horgan's late major ensured Richie Kelleher's side made a winning start to Group C.
Earlier in the day, Alan Connolly's 1-9 haul proved decisive at Pairc Ui Rinn where Blackrock beat Erin's Own by 2-16 to 2-12 while Alan Cadogan and Shane Kingston teamed up to lead Douglas to a 0-17 to 1-11 win against Ballyhea in Mallow.
