Thurles Sarsfields pulled clear of Kilruane MacDonagh's in the final quarter of their Tipperary SHC opener at Holycross this afternoon.
A Sarsfields scoring surge that yielded 1-8 between the 45th and 60th minutes floored MacDonagh's who fell to a 1-19 to 1-13 defeat.
With Liam Sheedy looking on, Billy McCarthy made an impressive return for Sarsfields after a lengthy absence from a serious knee injury sustained in 2018.

Kian O'Kelly's goal helped MacDonagh's to a 1-7 to 0-8 interval lead and they maintained it until Sarsfields took over with 15 minutes to go.
In today's other Group 3 tie, Loughmore-Castleiney overcame Moycarkey-Borris 1-22 to 0-17 at Semple Stadium while Seamus Callanan's Drom-Inch done enough to beat Roscrea in Group 1.
