Mayo GAA is in mourning after the death of former footballer Fr JJ Cribbin, a National Football League winner in 1970.
The Ballyhaunis native, who served in a number of parishes including Castlebar and Breaffy while coaching underage GAA teams, scored two goals when Mayo defeated Down by 4-7 to 0-10 in the National Football League final 50 years ago.
A star forward on St Jarlaths College and Ballyhaunis teams, Fr JJ also lined out for Mayo in the 1962 All-Ireland MFC final against Kerry at Croke Park, at the age of 16.
Everyone at Coiste Chontae Mhaigheo would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the family & friends of the late Fr JJ Cribbin. Fr Cribbin was a National League winner with Mayo in 1970. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. #mayogaa https://t.co/1idr8CCDDs
