Laois GAA mourn loss of Danny Delaney

Laois GAA is mourning the loss of Danny Delaney, a former Laois footballer and county board vice chairman.

The Stradbally man passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning at the Maryborough Centre in Portlaoise.

During a long and dedicated playing career, Danny won the Laois IFC with Strad' on two occasions in 1959 and 1963 and represented the county at senior level. He was also an accomplished hurler with Ratheniska.

After his days as a player ended, Danny continued to serve his club in an administrative capacity and took on the role as Stradbally GAA chairman in the 1970's. Around the same time, he was elected vice chairman of the Laois county board.
