Ian McCarthy bagged a hat-trick of goals as Na Gaeil of Kerry cruised to All-Ireland Club JFC honours at Croke Park today.
The former Kerry minor added two points for good measure as the team in white and green recorded a 3-20 to 1-5 final victory over Wexford and Leinster champions Rathgarogue-Cushinstown.
With Kerry senior stars Jack Barry and Diarmuid O’Connor dominating around the middle third of the field, McCarthy and his attacking colleagues saw plenty of possession and they made it count on the scoreboard, particularly in the second-half.
The opening period finished with the Eoin Doody captained side 1-8 to 1-4 to the good after goalkeeper Nicky Sinnott pulled a goal back for the Wexford underdogs via a penalty but it was all one-way traffic after the break.
The Tralee club posted 2-12 and restricted their opponents to just one point to finish with 21-points to spare.
Rathgarogue-Cushinstown’s woes were compounded when full-back Peadar Cody was sent off late on.
