Promotion from HL2B is a priority for Kildare hurlers, according to their manager David Herity.

The Lilywhites will be favourites to make a return to HL2A, but they face a tough opener against a London side that could cause them some problems.

The former Kilkenny All-Ireland winner has been pleased with their preparation for the league and he feels that his charges are focused on the task in hand.

“The league is extremely important, it’s massive for the development of Kildare as they strive to get back up into Division 2A,” Herity told the Leinster Leader.

“We look at some of the teams up there such as Mayo, Meath, Wicklow, all teams we feel we can compete with but we know Division 2B is extremely tough with Down, Derry and Warwickshire away, London and Roscommon at home, nothing easy but we really need to gain promotion, and get back into Division 2A.”
