Offaly delivered a second Kehoe Cup win for new manager Michael Fennelly while Meath and Wicklow had to settle for a share of the spoils.
An experimental Faithful County team was made to sweat by Down at Abbottstown before registering a 1-24 to 2-18 success.
Sean Cleary bagged their goal in the first-half and they led by 1-10 to 2-5 at the change of ends.
Cathal Kiely top scored for the winners with 0-7 (six frees) and they will now face Meath in the next round.
The Royals were caught on the line by Wicklow who had centre-back John Henderson to thank for finding the target with a stoppage time equaliser.
It finished Meath 1-21, Wicklow 0-24 in Arklow.
Andy O’Brien raised 16 white flags for the Garden County while Mickie Mullen took the scoring honours for the Royals with 1-4.
The visitors had led by 0-11 to 0-7 at half-time.
