Death of legendary Wexford goalkeeper Art Foley

The death has taken place in the US of Wexford goalkeeping great Michael 'Art' Foley.
Art was part of the trail-blazing Wexford team of the 1950s that won All-Ireland SHC titles in 1955 and '56. His match-winning save from Cork's Christy Ring in the 1956 All-Ireland final is the stuff of legend.
The Enniscorthy native also won three Leinster SHC medals, one National League medal, one Railway Cup medal and seven Wexford SHC medals with St Anne's. Art emigrated to the US with his wife Anne and their then three young children in 1957. Eventually settling in Long Island, he lived a quiet life there for over 60 years, raising a family of six children, and now grandchildren and great grandchildren.
His passing comes just a few months after that of his former Wexford team-mate Ned Wheeler, who won three All-Ireland medals in 1955, '56 and '60 along with six Leinster championships and three Railway Cups.
