The Donegal SFC final is going to a second replay after extra-time couldn't separate Gaoth Dobhair and Naomh Conaill in their replay at MacCumhaill Park.

The sides will return to Ballybofey on Wednesday night for a third meeting when a penalty shootout may yet be needed to determine the destination of the Dr Maguire Cup. Seaghan Ferry's 82nd minute point for reigning Ulster champions Gaoth Dobhair ensured that a third game will be required.

Naomh Conaill got off to a great start when Charles McGuinness slotted home a 10th minute penalty. But helped by a rare Eamon McGee point, Gaoth Dobhair recovered to take a 0-6 to 1-2 lead into the break.

With Odhrán MacNiallais leading their scoring charge, the holders looked set to prevail before a Ciaran Thompson free sent the game to extra-time, 1-6 to 0-9.

MacNiallais scored a point from a penalty as Gaoth Dobhair opened up a three-point lead. It was 0-13 to 1-8 in their favour at the end of the first period of extra-time, but the Glenties men refused to roll over and levelled through Ciaran Thompson and Eunan Doherty before Ethan O'Donnell fisted over what looked like the winner.

However, there was still time for Ferry to level once again.
