Ramor United 2-8
Crosserlough 0-12
Ramor United advanced to their first Cavan senior football championship final in three years after seeing off Crosserlough at Kingspan Breffni tonight.
Goals from James Brady and Simon Cadden either side of half-time were what worked the oracle for the Virginia men as they dumped out last year’s beaten finalists.
Brady’s goal in the 27th minute was all that stood between the sides at half-time (1-5 to 0-5) and when centre-forward Cadden fired in four minutes into the restart the 2016 champions were on their way to another decider.
Crosserlough responded with points from Ryan Galligan and county man Dara McVeety prior to Patrick Lynch (45) and Adrian Smith making it a three-point game with a quarter of an hour remaining.
A Brady free pushed the margin out again for Ray Cole’s charges though, which left the favourites chasing this semi-final in the closing stages and, despite keeping the pressure on with two points – one from McVeety – in the last five minutes, Crosserlough would finish two short in the end.
Ramor now face the winners of defending Castlerahan and Cavan Gaels, whom play tomorrow (throw-in 7pm), in the Breffni County’s decider on October 14th.
Meanwhile, the earlier clash in Cavan town saw Shercock relegating Cootehill Celtic to the intermediate ranks for 2020 thanks to a 2-15 to 3-9 victory over their near rivals.
