There have been many scoring feats of note throughout the history of the GAA, but one that went relatively unnoticed last week was Meath minor hurler Conor McGovern’s tally of 0-18.
The Royals recorded a 2-28 to 2-06 win over Down in their second outing in the Leinster MHC last Saturday and the star of the show was undoubtedly their full forward.
The Clann na nGael club man hit 12 of his points from play with the remaining six coming from placed balls.
Meath bounced back from an opening day drubbing to Carlow and the win over Down at Abbottstown was lit up by McGovern’s display.
To score eighteen times in the one game is simply an amazing feat and Meath look to have a real star of the future on their hands.
