Armagh got their promotion bid back on track with a six-point success over Tipperary in the Athletic Grounds today.

Liam Kearns and the Premier County were left to count the cost of the 25th minute dismissal of Brian Fox as Kieran McGeeney’s men enjoyed a 1-15 to 0-12 victory.

The experienced Charlie Vernon registered the game’s only goal in the 19th minute and that helped establish a 1-9 to 0-7 half-time advantage for the Orchard County.

With two draws and a defeat to their name following the opening three rounds, there was no way the hosts were going to let this one slip from their grasp in the second-half.

They successfully kept Tipp at a safe distance after the resumption and a first win of the campaign sees them rise to fourth in the table.

Vernon and Niall Grimley top scored for the winners with 1-1 and 0-4 respectively while Liam McGrath found the target with 0-6 (5 frees) for a depleted Tipperary outfit.
