Bryan Sheehan has won a record-equalling eleventh South Kerry SFC medal with St Marys.

The former Kerry star delivered a Man of the Match performance as Dromid Pearses were gunned down in a high-scoring decider at Cahersiveen on Saturday, pulling the strings from midfield and registering 1-6 of the winners’ total.

In winning their 35th South Kerry title, completing a first five in a row since 1940-44, St Marys retained the Jack Murphy Cup in style.

Sheehan was very much the man of the moment, equalling clubmate Austin Contable’s haul of eleven South Kerry titles.

“The South Kerry Championship is still something special down here and winning it is still important to this group,” the five-times All-Ireland SFC winner – who has been togging out for the St Marys first team since he was 15 – told The Kerryman.
