Setanta 1-14

Burt were crowned Donegal senior hurling champions for a 39th time after overcoming holders Setanta in Letterkenny this afternoon.

Defenders Padraig Doherty and Pierce Harrigan along with centre forward Ronan McDermott raised green flags as Burt made the most of their numerical advantage against a Setanta side who played the entire second half with 13 men after Davin Flynn and Bernard Lafferty were sent off in the 23rd and 30th minutes respectively. Declan Coulter scored a dozen points in an impressive display for the holders, but his efforts proved in vain.

The Inishowen men led by 2-6 to 0-6 at half-time, but a 35th minute goal from Kevin Campbell brought Setanta back into it and they drew level through Coulter in the 48th minute. It remained level pegging until McDermott swooped for Burt's third goal and Niall Campbell (two) and Caolan McDermott added late points to seal their win.
