Ruislip redevelopment receives financial boost

A £200,000 grant from the Irish Government has been given to the redevelopment of London GAA's county ground McGovern Park.

The venue in Ruislip has undergone a major transformation in the last 18 months and further work is needed before it is completed.

Minister of State for the Diaspora and International Development, Ciaran Cannon made the announcement, with the grant being part of the Emigrant Support Programme of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Cannon told the Irish Post: "Our investment in the new facilities at Ruislip recognises the central role of the GAA in the Irish Emigrant community in London.

"I hope that this cooperation between the Irish government and the GAA will further cement the links between us and enable the GAA will further cement the links between us and enable the GAA to continue its work of binding the Irish community together and ensuring the strength of that community in times to come."
