Armagh produced their best performance of this year’s championship to see off Derry by 3-17 to 0-15 at Celtic Park and record a second win in Group 1 of the All-Ireland senior football championship.

Ross McQuillan, Conor Turbitt and Rian O’Neill supplied the goals for Kieran McGeeney’s men as they won out by 11 points in the end to confirm their place in the knock-out stages with a round remaining.

McQuillan’s strike put the visitors into a 1-3 to 0-3 lead after 13 minutes and ‘Man of the Match’ Turbitt hammered in their second seven minutes later to widen the margin to five.

Turbitt (2), Aidan Forker and Barry McCambridge would add points that saw a flat Derry side trailing by 2-8 to 0-6 come half-time, and when O’Neill goaled midway through the second period there’d be no way back for the Division 1 champions.

Late points from Shane McGuigan and Conor Glass proved on consolation for Mickey Harte’s men as they slumped to a third straight loss, which leaves them needing a win over Westmeath in the third round to keep their championship hopes alive.
