Following yesterday’s All-Ireland SFC final victory, champions Dublin have secured nine positions on the 2020 Sunday Game Football Team of the Year.
The 2-14 to 0-15 victory over Mayo at Croke Park cemented the Dubs’ sixth consecutive Sam Maguire Cup success.
Dessie Farrell’s side saw nine selections on the team, which were defenders Michael Fitzsimons, James McCarthy, Eoin Murchan and John Small, midfielder Brian Fenton and the attacking quartet of Niall Scully, Ciaran Kilkenny, Con O’Callaghan and Dean Rock.
Mayo had three players awarded, Oisin Mullin, Paddy Durcan and Cillian O’Connor, while Cavan had Ray Galligan and Thomas Galligan and Tipperary captain Conor Sweeney was named at full-forward.
Yesterday also saw the RTE panel voting for Ciaran Kilkenny as Footballer of the Year for 2020, with fellow attacker Con O’Callaghan picking up the Man of the Match award after the final.
