Wolfe Tone & St. Enda's, Derrymacash notes

The Wolfe Tones Under 16 team who beat Madden.
Peil/ Football

A fantastic second half performance by the Under 16 footballers against Madden saw them win through to the County Final on September 7 against Naomh Eoin. The game, which was played in Ballyhegan on Thursday evening, opened with the two teams trading scores with Conor and Patrick McPartland responding to efforts from Madden. Dylan Hoy put the Tones in front before Madden hit their first goal. Patrick McPartland and Odhrán Magee pulled the Tones back into it before Madden hit their second and third goals in a devastating five minute period. Odhrán Magee finished the scoring for the Tones at half time to bring them in at half time Tones 0-6 Madden 3-2. The Tones started the second half well with points through Dylan Hoy, Tiarnán Geddis and Caolán McWilliams but Madden hit back with two points of their own. The Tones then turned on the style with Dylan Hoy finishing to the net, followed quickly by two points from the same player. Odhrán Magee also got oin on the act with a goal and a point and as time slipped away Madden found the net for a consolation goal. This was a superb team effort right across the field, with the defence shining in the second half in particular keeping a very good Madden side to just three scores. We congratulate each and every member of the squad and the management team and look forward to a day out in the Athletic Grounds on Saturday 7 September. Maith sibh a bhuachaillí.

Well done lads.

The senior footballers had no game this week due to the Armagh match. The minors lost to Tír na nÓg at home last Monday and host Keady on Monday 1 July. The Under 14s had a very good two point win against St Peter's last Tuesday evening. The Tones led at half time 5-5 to 1-8 and although the Peters made a good comeback in the second half, the boys did enough to hold out for a win 5-11 to 3-15. Well done to our Under 10 footballers who had a great day at the Maghery tournament on Saturday. They won 6 games in a row and lost out to St Paul's in the final, playing some fantastic football the whole way through the tournament. They were back on the field on Sunday and came away from St Peter's with a good win. The Under 8 footballers also took part in the Maghery tournament and had one win against Ballyhegan, a loss against the hosts and were very unlucky to lose to eventual winners Clan na Gael.
Well done to St Patrick's Primary School, Aghacommon, who were crowned north Armagh Champions recently. The school team also performed very well in the St Michael's tournament, narrowly missing out in the final of the cup competition. Maith sibh.
Well done to Finnian and the Armagh senior footballers on the comprehensive victory over Wicklow on Sunday in the Athletic Grounds. We hope that this result can be a springboard to get a bit of a run through the qualifiers. Ard Mhacha abú.

Camógaíocht/ Camogie

Well done to the Under 12 camogie girls who defeated Aghagallon at Colane on Wednesday evening. The girls performed very well, bagging two well-taken goals and holding the home side scoreless. Maith sibh a chailíní.
We would like to say a big thank you to Ross Corbett, Regional Camogie Development Officer who visited the club last Monday night to hold a Come Hurl With Me coaching session with some of the St Enda's coaches and parents of our underage players. It was a very successful night and was enjoyed by all who took part. Go raibh maith agat Ross.
Good luck to two of our young camógs who are taking part in an online talent show which is being organised by Lurgan Junior High School. Cána McCavigan is part of the traditional group, while Dáiríne McCaughley is performing a solo song. As well as playing camogie for the club, Dáiríne also represented us with great distinction as part of the ballad group in the County Final of Scór na nÓg last year. You can vote for Dáiríne or for the traditional group at
