Peil/ Football

We would like to wish our Under 14 footballers the very best of luck on Saturday when they play in the Division 2 Championship final. The match will take place in the Morgan Athletic Grounds in Armagh with throw-in at 3.30 and we would like to encourage all parents, members, friends and supporters of the Tones to come along and support the boys. There is no doubt that the lads have worked very hard all year and we hope they get the win that they richly deserve in the championship final. We would like to congratulate Cathal, Kieran, Brendan and Charlie on their achievements with this team so far this year and wish them all the best for the final. The team are looking forward to playing in the Athletic Grounds and joint captain Callan Duffin summed up the feeling of the boys, saying "I am very proud to be representing my club in the championship final and feel very privileged to lead out this great bunch of players who have all worked extremely hard this year to reach this final. Is féidir linn seo a dhéanamh, seo an t-am againn." Joint captain Dylan Hoy added, "It is a great honour to wear the Tones jersey in the championship final. I'd like to thank my team mates and our mentors for all their hard work this year and also our supporters who have followed us throughout the county all year long. De Bhulbh Tón abú." The club are organising a barbeque for players and supporters back in Derrymacash after the game to recognize the boys' achievement in reaching the championship final. Good luck on Saturday boys. Ádh mór oraibh a bhuachaillí.
Our senior footballers are in championship action this Friday evening, when they take on the Grange in Clann Éireann Park with a 7pm throw-in. Best of luck to the players and management.
Our Under 6 footballers had a tough task in Saturday morning at home, taking on a much bigger St Peters team. It proved to be a tightly contested game, which eventually ended in a draw. Well done to all the boys and girls who contributed to a good match. Our Under 8s also had a home game against a very strong St Peters side. After a shaky enough start, the Tones settled well and took control of the game. An excellent performance in the final quarter saw the Tones end up winners by 3 points. Great performance lads. The Under 10s played some fantastic football in Saturday's tournament in St Paul's. The Tones reached the final of the shield, where they brought the hosts to extra time only to miss out by one score from the last kick of the ball. It was a great effort by the boys and girls from the Tones and all of the mentors and supporters were extremely proud of the way they played. Our Under 14s got another win last Tuesday night, defeating Éire Óg at home on a scoreline of 1.12 to 0.06. Good luck to the U14s in the Championship final on Saturday. The Under 16s carried on their recent run of good form with a good win over Éire Óg last Thursday.
We were announced as one of the runners-up in the Irish News Jamie Clarkie Skills Competition and we won the prize of a signed football.
